There's a very special Birthday coming up in 31 days, and I want you ALL to help me count down to the big day in a very special way!! June 9th is the 4th Birthday of Just Bee 'n Me!! To help celebrate this milestone, I want to issue a challenge - chiefly to myself - but also for anyone who wants to come along with me on this journey.
Here's the challenge: There are 31 chapters in the Book of Proverbs in the Bible. Each day, for the next 31 days (Lord willing and with His help), I will read a chapter in Proverbs (today it's Chapter 1), then post a favorite Proverb(s) from that chapter here at Just Bee 'n Me. Some days, like today, I will also post about other things, but each and every day I will at least post the Proverb. You are more than welcome to leave comments about your favorite Proverb from the daily reading...it would be great to hear your favorites and why. But, you don't have to comment about the Proverbs at all...ANY comment(s) you leave on ANY post(s) at Just Bee 'n Me throughout this challenge, starting today, will enter you into the greatest giveaway EVER here at Just Bee 'n Me!! I will reveal the prize details in an upcoming post, but I assure you, it will be awesome!! Oh, and if you post about this challenge on your blog (and let me know about it), I will DOUBLE your chances to win (yep, for example if you post about the challenge and leave 10 comments over the 31 days, you'll be entered 20 times!) Feel free to grab the 31 Day banner above and simply point to the following URL: http://justbeenme.blogspot.com/search/label/31%20Days
Easy-Peasy!

SO, let the challenge begin - Here's the Proverb for today from Proverbs Chapter 1 (by the way, if you don't have a Bible or you prefer to read online, I will be linking to Proverbs at http://www.biblegateway.com/ each day):
"My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck."
Proverbs 1:8-9 (NLT)
I thought that Proverb was appropriate for today - Mother's Day! I know I have benefited greatly from my Mom's instructions and her example...and I still do. I realize that some reading here today wish like anything that their Mom were here to speak to them even one more time. Still others may be estranged from their Mom or have no real memory of their Mom and can find little to value from their mother's instruction. Still others may be struggling Moms wondering now if saying "NO" and "STOP THAT" 800 times a day will count as "instruction" that will crown their little ones with anything remotely resembling "grace" someday...
No matter what your situation may be, I know the Lord can redeem all things that are given over to Him. SO even if "brush your teeth" is all the instruction you can find to honor, I'd say that was a pretty important lesson!
Last night at church one of our singers sang this song called "Somebody's Hero" and I was so touched by it! I found the original music video by Jamie O'Neal and shared it here...grab a Kleenex and your Mom or your kid, or their memory, and enjoy...

Lastly, I just wanted to say a very special "Happy Mother's Day" to my incredible Mom!!!
(That's Mom on the left and me on the right, each at about 5 years old)I cannot adequately express how very blessed I am to have such a woman as my mother and as my friend! I love you so very much Mom - thank you for EVERYTHING! May God bless you, and all my Mom friends and family on this very special day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

See you tomorrow for day 2!!!
What a neat contest!
ReplyDeleteMy parents are awesome, and I'm glad to have their example. And yesterday, my son (14) told me that a rule I have about not spending the night with a friend if I don't know their parents, was "a pretty good rule, I guess. I'm ok with it" (after he'd been a little bit upset the night before). So maybe someday he'll think I'm a chain of honor :)
