Illustration Friday: Extremes

The topic this week for Illustration Friday ("Extremes") was a bit of a tough one in my opinion - but I finally struck upon an idea that seemed to fit: the seemingly never-ending struggle to achieve balance with food. My tendencies in the past were to go from one extreme (eating just about anything) to the other (starving myself). Neither extreme is healthy. So, for me, balance is the key to healthy eating. Crazy diets and deprivation tactics may score some quick results, but are not sustainable long-term. So, what I'm striving for is to hold the line on the eating extremes and make healthier choices one day at a time. It's tough, but it is doable with God's help...

Well, all this drawing and writing about food has made me hungry - I'm thinking pizza and a cupcake are sounding pretty good right about now - HELP!!

  9. I love your illo and that it is making people think. But I have found that God has made so many good and tasty and interesting foods...I LOVE to eat and explore new tastes. You're right, it is a challenge with all of the hype out there, but you are what you eat! I think most of us struggle with these food issues. Great illo and commentary!

  14. that food does look really delicious somehow :)
great idea for extremes...actually every facet of life can be taken to the extreme. almost nothing is good unless done in moderation.
the black background is fitting too.

  15. Excellent illio idea! I find it especially hard to keep the balance when coworkers bring in such tasty sugar-filled treats. Your character looks like she's got her jogging shoes on so at least she can burn off the junk food she's got her eyes on.

  19. Great illo. The message is wonderful. With our busy schedule, it seems like we're doing the burger and dough nut extreme more often than we should.
    Love the quotes also.
